Our Training Ethos
We believe training should be effective and fun, for both you and your dog! We train using kind, reward-based methods which have been shown to efficiently teach dogs all sorts of new skills, whilst strengthening the relationship their humans share with them. Our classes are based around straight forward concepts and simple steps to help you achieve your training goals in a friendly and supportive environment. We also use plenty of games in our training too, so that you build up a tool box of fun ready to use with your four-legged friend.
About Emma
I have lived with and loved dogs for as long as I can remember, but began my career in dog training after seeing the difference great puppy classes made to my own pup, I took him along to Puppy School and never left! I sought out specialised higher education in dog training and behaviour under Sarah Whitehead and was mentored by a fantastic fellow trainer before setting up The Clever Canine Co. I am a fully qualified Puppy School trainer and ABTC (Animal Behaviour Training Council) registered trainer. This means my knowledge and practical training has been rigorously assessed to ensure I meet the strict criteria of both organisations. I am also a qualified Canine Hoopers World trainer, Absolute Dogs Pro Dog trainer and have done many other courses with training organisations such as The School of Canine Science. I am committed to continually updating my knowledge of training and behaviour through regular CPD.
When not running classes I can normally be found training and competing in agility with my own four dogs. I love exploring the Cornish coastline and enjoy wild swimming and paddle boarding, activities that my dogs enjoy too!
Over the last eight years I have been lucky enough to support hundreds of families and help them to train their puppies and dogs. I love to see these partnerships develop and the progress they make as a result.
All our training classes are run by Emma, who is a qualified trainer and member of the ABTC.
The Animal Behaviour and Training Council is the regulatory body that represents animal trainers, training instructors and animal behaviour therapists to both the public and to legislative bodies. It sets and maintains the standards of knowledge and practical skills needed to be an animal trainer, training instructor or animal behaviour therapist, and it maintains the national registers of appropriately qualified animal trainers and animal behaviourists.
